George Roger Chute collection, 1840-1977.

Personal papers including family history data, resumes, incoming and outgoing correspondence, newspaper articles by and about Chute, and his notes of Northwest Indians; research into the fisheries off Southern and Baja California including articles Chute wrote for fishing magazines and extensive investigation into trawling fishing; abstract and copy of his manuscript, An Economic Chronicle of the Halibut Industry of the North Pacific; and the largest amount of material dealing with the North Pacific halibut fishery; together with hundreds of photographs, either taken by Chute or obtained by him, of fishing practices of coastal Indians. Includes material relating to California State Fisheries Laboratory, West Coast Fisheries, Saint Paul Island, Alaskan Pribilof Islands, Terminal Island, Pacific Halibut Commission, and Alaskan and Pacific Northwest Indians.
